Although the weather may indicate otherwise, spring is officially here and a new playlist fit for the season is a necessity.
You may have noticed that there was no new Music Monday playlist on my blog in February. Zayn Malik broke off from his One Direction bandmates to take time off and experiment with new projects. Then, rumours started swirling about an official solo music venture. Zayn officially responded to the speculation by dropping his single “Pillowtalk” and giving fans their first taste of his new sound. Now, leading up to the release of the full-length disc ‘Mind of Mine’ on March 25, Zayn has been surprise releasing his favourite songs from the album. Fan-favourite “LIKE I WOULD” is an upbeat track about reconnecting with a former fling.
“Lush Life” by Zara Larsson
I first discovered Zara Larsson when she opened for Cher Lloyd on the I Wish Tour in 2013. After seeing her perform in Toronto, it was obvious she was going to be a star with her incredible vocals and stage-presence. Flash-forward three years and the world has a massive crush on Zara Larsson! After scoring an international radio hit with the MNEK collab “Never Forget You,” Zara gave us the spring bop “Lush Life.” It will have you dancing and singing in your seat from the first note!
“Be Alright” by Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande is undeniably a pop princess, and she’s continuing her reign with her new single “Be Alright.” It’s a beautiful successor to her upcoming album’s title track “Dangerous Woman,” a song that serves as a risqué testimony to the strength and power Ariana feels when she is with her man. “Be Alright” reassures listeners that they can find light in the darkest situations and that, with time, they too will be alright.
