Playlist: November finds & faves

November finds & faves playlist cover - Angela McLean

If I’m being real with you, November was A MONTH. I was so busy and all over the place between meetings, midterms, work and catching up with life, I basically forgot what having a social life was like. A great benefit to this, though, was all the time I had to curate and obsess over my November playlist. It definitely provided a great escape and made doing homework much more entertaining!

It was a great month for music, so I’m sharing 66 songs. Continue scrolling to check out the playlist and get my take on six must-listen tracks (then press play and get through these last weeks of work before the break!)

Find: “thank u, next” – Ariana Grande

Seriously, 2018 has been the Year of Ariana. From her fourth studio album ‘sweetener,’ to this surprise drop, she’s continuing to take over the airwaves, charts and our hearts. She’s also leaving her ex-lovers behind in the most graceful way possible, thanking each and every one (except poor Jai Brooks) for all the lessons learned and self-love gained. 🎶 I’M SO EFFIN GRATEFUL FOR THIS SONG. 🎶

Fave: “Electricity” – Silk City and Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa’s vocals shine on top of this electric Mark Ronson x Diplo-produced house smash. It took me a minute to come around to it, but man, what a great collaboration! I love playing it when I’m getting ready – it never fails to hype me up! (Speaking of Mark Ronson, I can’t wait for his new song with Miley Cyrus, “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.” Expect to see it on December’s playlist!)

Find: “Trust My Lonely” – Alessia Cara

If you don’t want to hear it from me, take it from Alessia Cara: you deserve the best and nothing less. Alessia recently told Billboard that “this song was just a reminder for me and for everyone to just trust yourself and let go of things that don’t serve you in a positive way, especially your heart and your soul.” Amen, sister!

Fave: “Wrote A Song About You” – MNEK

I can tell you the exact moment I became a fan of MNEK: five years ago, when the London-based pop-soul-dance artist shared the same management as the biggest boyband in the world at the time (One Direction), this song would play on the band’s big screens before each show. I Shazam’ed it one night, followed MNEK on Twitter, and the rest was history! He recently released his debut full-length album ‘Language’ (and announced headlining shows in major N.A. markets including Toronto), but this song will forever be a classic.

Find: “Lucid Dreams” (Cover) – Why Don’t We

Though you are likely more familiar with Juice WRLD’s original radio hit, Why Don’t We’s cover is incredible (and in my opinion, even better). The five-piece band took on the song for a Spotify Session and exceptionally convey the anguish and heartache following a break-up. I apologize in advance for the emotions you will feel listening to this song, but it’s so worth it.

Fave: “DaNcing in a RoOm” – EZI

Speaking of break-ups, rising dance-pop artist EZI recently released your next favourite “I don’t need you anyway” anthem. Tell the DJ to play this next time you spot your ex at the club.

It’s almost December and you know what that means – CHRISTMAS MUSIC! Let me know your favourite Christmas songs in the comments below and stay tuned for my holiday themed finds & faves playlist next month.

Happy listening! xx
