* Shackets *

Shackets (“shirt jackets”) are the new it jacket and they’re the perfect solution for wanting to wear a flannel in the colder months while keeping yourself warm and cozy. To get multiple outfits out of one jacket, I recommend wearing it undone with a thermal long-sleeve underneath, or pairing it with your fave plain-coloured sweater as temperatures start to drop.

* Plastic Hearts by Miley Cyrus (Album) *
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve heard a record with no skips, but Miss Miley brought all the heat for her new ’70s and ’80s pop-rock inspired album, Plastic Hearts. Announced in August alongside the release of lead single “Midnight Sky,” this long-awaited album is Miley’s first full-length release since 2017 and follows 2019’s She Is Coming, which ended up being a stand-alone EP from the scrapped She Is Miley Cyrus project. I’m holding out hope we can see some of these tracks performed live in 2021, especially the powerhouse collab with Dua Lipa, “Prisoner.” (P.S. If 2020 has brought us anything positive, it’s been the amount and quality of these catchy female collabs — from Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B, to Dua and Miley, to Bebe Rexha and Doja Cat. Give it to me, ladies! 🔥)
Must-listen tracks: “Plastic Hearts” (a solid title track!), “Night Crawling” featuring Billy Idol (this was made for being in the pit at a concert jamming out), and “Prisoner” with Dua Lipa (watch the music video above!)
* Therefore I Am by Billie Eilish *
Billie Eilish is in her own lane, doing her own thing, and she doesn’t care what you have to say or think about it — just listen to the lyrics of her new single, “Therefore I Am.” She’s sending a crystal clear message to the haters, critics and clout chasers that life is best lived embracing your self worth and carving your own path forward. I think that’s an attitude we can all (and should all) get behind!
* Monster by Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber *
Life in the spotlight isn’t always bright — take it from Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber, who, like Billie Eilish, respond to the pressures of fame and criticism on their new collab for Shawn’s upcoming album Wonder. Opening up about the dark side of stardom, Shawn and Justin describe their individual yet shared struggles growing up in the public eye; Shawn touches on his experiences with anxiety and fighting against the idea of perfection, while Justin acknowledges the mistakes he made while trying to maintain a “cool guy” persona. It’s great to see two young, highly-talented stars bond over their career journeys — and I love that the song doubles as a Canadian heritage moment. 🇨🇦

Here are two new shows ready to be added to your streaming queue!
* The Flight Attendant *
Arriving now to a TV set near you is a juicy drama that goes to new heights — high above the sky, in fact. The Flight Attendant stars Kaley Cuoco as Cassie Bowden, a jet-setting flight attendant whose one-night-stand on a layover in Dubai ends with her date dead, and still laying in bed next to her. How’s that for some major turbulence?! You know there won’t be smooth skies ahead on this show, so make sure you’re stocked up on popcorn!
* The Undoing *
You haven’t been able to exist on social media this month without seeing people, including celebs like Kerry Washington (who starred in another 2020 fave, Little Fires Everywhere) and Kelsea Ballerini, rave about The Undoing. Luckily, the hype is most definitely real and you will be hooked from the start. The show follows a therapist (Nicole Kidman) whose life begins to unravel the night before she publishes her debut book thanks to startling new, and very public, revelations. The Undoing is written and produced by Big Little Lies showrunner David E. Kelley, so you know it’s going to be a wild ride.
