An experience

As I’ve grown up, I’ve become a big fan of experiences over material goods. Whether it be a gift certificate for the spa, a local attraction or something that requires a little travel (i.e. a trip!), these types of gifts are super customizable and memorable. Part of my Christmas gift last year was a trip to San Francisco to visit my best friend Jazmin and it was better than anything I could have ever asked for. For something more low-key, you could plan a day out with a friend or a family member or get them passes for a local museum or amusement park. Know a music fan? Get them tickets to a concert for one of their favourite artists! I’m also a big fan of these coupon books I’ve seen people gift their significant other. How cute!

Baked goods

Who wouldn’t like a Christmas gift that’s both generous and delicious?! One of my favourite activities during the holiday season is baking cookies and I always bake extra for friends and to bring to the office. If you’re stuck on a gift idea, you can’t go wrong with a homemade assortment! To nail this gift, I love putting my cookie creations in a nice see-through jar and throwing in some chocolate. YUM!!

Gift card + A thoughtful card

You may have heard that gift cards are a “cop out” gift, but I’m here to combat that myth once and for all. Gift cards are great gifts, if they’re accompanied with a little extra something! I love giving people a gift card to their favourite store with a thoughtful card describing our favourite memories, what they mean to me and how the gift applies to them. Those few minutes of extra effort go a long way in making it an excellent gift and strengthening your bond with the recipient!
