Playlist: December finds & faves

December finds & faves playlist cover

There are few things I love more than the holiday season. Picture this: being at home stress-free, laying on the couch with a blanket, some eggnog or hot chocolate, the fireplace channel on TV (works just as well!) and Christmas music in the background. Doesn’t that sound amazing?! (That’s been me every day since finishing school and I’m so happy.)

Don’t know where to start with the music? My December finds & faves playlist will be the perfect soundtrack to your winter days and nights. I included some of the latest hits from the year’s top artists, plus a wide variety of Christmas classics and new releases – it’s ideal for every setting!

Scroll on to listen to this month’s playlist and discover six must-listen tracks.

Find: “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” – Mark Ronson feat. Miley Cyrus

As predicted in my November playlist, I am obsessed with this new Mark Ronson x Miley Cyrus collaboration! It’s my new go-to song to blast in the car and around the house on my new Google Home Max (graciously gifted by Google Canada – read more in my latest blog post!). Also on this playlist is their cover of “(Happy Xmas) War is Over.” Miley’s vocals are stunning as always and I love the pop-influenced take on the classic.

Fave: “Winter Things” – Ariana Grande

Coming from Ariana’s aptly-named 2015 EP ‘Christmas & Chill,’ this song sets the mood for chilling around the house during the Christmas season. Whenever I hear this song, this adorable image pops up in my head of me and my beau decorating the Christmas tree with the fireplace on (the real thing or the TV version!) and it really doesn’t get much better than that.

Find: “Snowman” – Sia

It was about time Sia released a Christmas album and she did not disappoint. “Snowman” is one of my favourites on the album and is an adorable, low-tempo holiday love song. I’m a big fan of her cute snowman-as-lover metaphor. ☃

Fave: “All I Want for Christmas Is You” – Mariah Carey

I think there’s probably about a million memes about this song, and they’re all true: Mariah’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is truly the epitome of the modern Christmas season. When I hear this song on the radio, I know Christmas is basically right around the corner. Come on, how can you resist the joy of “all I want for Christmaaaaaaaaaasssssss issssssss…. YOUUUUUUUUUU baby!!!!!”?!

Find: “Purple Snowflakes” – John Legend

In addition to Sia, John Legend is one artist whose Christmas album is long overdue but it was definitely worth the wait. This hidden gem of a holiday song was first recorded and released by Marvin Gaye in the ‘90s, and John does it more than justice. Don’t forget to watch (or rewatch) his adorable holiday special A Legendary Christmas with wife Chrissy Teigen – I absolutely love them!

Fave: “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” – Sam Smith

Of course I have to give a shout out to my favourite Sam Smith who, in 2014, released this beautiful cover of one of my favourite Christmas songs, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” It’s become a staple around my house during the holidays and once you listen you will understand why!

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite Christmas song is! Can’t wait to share more playlists as we head into the New Year.

Merry Christmas, and happy listening! xx
