With February being the unofficial-official month of love, there is no better time to share the many things I’ve been crushing on lately!

This impulse purchase from an Aldo in Pittsburgh a few years ago completely changed my fall/winter fashion game. Floppy hats, especially in a bold colour or shade like plum wine, are so cute and versatile and take any outfit to another level.

If you’re into boho-chic, fashion-forward clothing, listen up. I found the hack to shopping Free People for less: their online sale section! They have so many good sales and I’ve been finding items still new in store for 30% off or more online — and shipping has been free to Canada every time I ordered. Pro tip: You can also sign up to their email list for free shipping on your first order. Added bonus: Their customer service is incredible!
I’ve already worn their flowy Claudia Blouse (roughly 75% off) and got tons of compliments, and I have another shirt and hat I’m saving for the perfect photo opps. 😉
Beauty/Skincare

My skin is very dry in the morning, especially in the winter, making it difficult to apply foundation or concealer without immediate flaking. Luckily, this hyaluronic acid serum has saved the day more times than I can count. I spread it evenly on my face and neck shortly after getting out of the shower while my skin is damp, take one more pump after breakfast if I’m having an extra dry day, and I’m good to go!

* The Slow Rush by Tame Impala (Album) *
Tame. Freaking. Impala. If I’m being completely honest, I was pretty underwhelmed when I finally sat down to give this album a full listen, but there are several standouts that make it a hit for me. One of those is the so-good-but-so-short “Glimmer,” with the repeated line “I just want a glimmer of hope” (this song gives it to me). I also love “Breathe Deeper,” “Is It True” and previous single “It Might Be Time,” which is most reminiscent of Currents Tame.
* Two Bodies by Flight Facilities & Emma Louise *
I stumbled upon a recent Flight Facilities track while scrolling through a friend’s playlist and quickly went down a rabbit hole of their discography, thanks in full part to their eye-catching name (I’m a total aviation nerd, if you didn’t know). “Two Bodies” is beyond dreamy and ethereal, and it’s already a go-to in the car. I also recommend “Need You” (featuring NÏKA) off the same 2014 album, with the 2018 music video that repurposes ’70s dating game show footage. So nostalgic!
* Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa *
Speaking of nostalgia, Dua Lipa is killing it with the first tastes of her upcoming sophomore album, Future Nostalgia. Can’t wait to see the tour! And let’s get this song in a badass female spy movie, stat.
Movies & TV
First up: Parasite. This month, I finally had a chance to watch the latest Best Picture Oscar winner (and all my movie buff friends’ favourite film of 2019). Unlike some other award winners from years’ past, this was definitely worth the hype and I’m already itching to see it again. If you’re late to the Parasite party like I am, catch its digitally remastered IMAX run this week only.
Also, as soon as I hit Publish on this blog, I’ll be getting back to my current TV guilty pleasure, Big Little Lies. I wrote about how much I loved the book in my summer must-reads blog; hilariously, I forgot most of the plot until I got halfway through season one of the show and suddenly realized, SHOOT, I know how this ends! But I was still hooked the whole way through and can’t wait to see what’s in store for season two, especially considering there’s no second book setting the foundation for this series of events.
