Remix Realness — 25 Remixes You Need to Hear Right Now!

Have you ever listened to a song’s remix and said to yourself, oh snap, this might be even better than the original?

Since many remixes feature groovy new electronic beats, added star power and dozens more unique touches, it’s easy to feel like you’re listening to a totally new song. For this month’s playlist, I wanted to spotlight a few remixes that have soared up my on-repeat list. Keep scrolling for the full 25-track playlist plus five standout songs!

“Good as Hell” (Remix) – Lizzo feat. Ariana Grande

I’d be missing an obvious golden opportunity if I didn’t say that this remix is good as hell! With two of the year’s biggest artists — Lizzo and Ariana Grande — joining forces, it was a given that this collab would be magic to our ears. Lizzo and Ari delivered it all and then some. Whether it’s the original or the remix, this iconic song will definitely be on everyone’s year-end playlists.

“Kaleidoscope Love” (KAYTRANADA Remix) – AlunaGeorge

Whenever a conversation turns to remixes, I immediately think of this epic Kaytranada x AlunaGeorge collab. After I discovered it on YouTube years ago, I listened to it so many times in the next few days that it quickly became the most played song on my iPod Classic — which was not an easy title to overthrow! I can’t think of a better word to describe it than irresistible. Give it a listen (or two, or three) and let me know if you agree!

“Kiss It Better” (KAYTRANADA Edition) – Rihanna

KAYTRANADA (a Canadian legend!) has done it again. I didn’t think I could like this song more, but I’ve recently started each day by blasting this remix. It makes me want to get up and dance at my desk — it’s that good.

“Too Good at Goodbyes” (Snakehips Remix) – Sam Smith

You know I would’ve found a way to tie my fave Sam Smith into this post somehow, but this Snakehips remix made my job so much easier. This is the perfect example of a remix completely transforming a song! Sam’s original hit is beautiful and, as we all know, slightly depressing — but this is a total banger.

“All My Friends” (feat. Tinashe & Chance the Rapper) [99 Souls Remix] – Snakehips

With more than 25 million plays on Spotify alone, it’s forgivable that I was certain this remix was the original song until recently. In comparison to the Snakehips original, 99 Souls’ “All My Friends” remix is more uptempo and catchy, which contrasts surprisingly well with the mellow and lonely tone of the lyrics. It’s perfect for those Friday/Saturday nights when your Instagram feed is full of club selfies and you’re perfectly content on the couch watching hockey, a movie, or blogging. 😉
