Playlist: October finds & faves

October finds & faves playlist cover - Angela McLean

It’s October, so it’s OFFICIALLY fall. If you know me, you’re well aware this is my favourite season. As much as I love summer vibes and warm weather, I also love sweaters and the colours of the changing leaves. Plus, fall photoshoots are the best!

If you’re still clinging onto summer, I know just what you need to solidify your fall mood: my October ‘finds & faves’ playlist! I’ve compiled 30 tracks that are perfect for your windy commute, shortened days and Halloween parties.

Scroll down to hit play on this month’s playlist and read about my top six picks. Then, go and get your spook on!

Find: “Bottled Up” – Dinah Jane feat. Ty Dolla $ign and Marc E. Bassy

She may be the last of the Fifth Harmony ladies to release solo music, but Dinah Jane certainly did not disappoint. Sticking to the R&B sound the group’s last album developed, Dinah shines on “Bottled Up,” a fun club-ready song that features a few references to the 5H days (“Work from home, but he gon’ stay up with me”). Check out her debut performance of the track on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon above!

Fave: “Conscious” – Broods

I’m a huge fan of Broods (their latest single, “Peach,” is also on this playlist) and have always loved this song. The constant build-up is quite enchanting and made it the perfect song to close out their sophomore album. I was thrilled to read that the duo would be joining Taylor Swift (!) on her reputation Stadium Tour, which kicked off its Australia and New Zealand leg last week. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the year!

Find: “High & Low” – West Coast Massive feat. Brayton Bowman

You may have heard of this song through its viral music video, the directorial debut by actor Josh Hutcherson! The good news is the song is the real deal. It depicts the highs and lows of a night out, and of life in general. It’s definitely upbeat and dancey, so it’s the perfect song to keep you grooving this fall. (P.S. Check out my 2015 interview with Brayton – he’s the best!)

Fave: “I’m In Love With a Monster” – Fifth Harmony

Who doesn’t love a bewitchingly good Halloween song?! I was fully obsessed with this Hotel Transylvania 2 song when it came out back in 2015. Whether it be the character or human type, I think we can all relate to being in love with a monster at some point 😉 But this song’s ending gets me every time – “1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 AHHHHHHH!!!” (Also, can you tell I miss Fifth Harmony?)

Find: “Kiss and Make Up” – Dua Lipa feat. BLACKPINK

When one of pop’s hottest songstresses teams up with K-pop’s leading girl group, you’re bound to get a hit. With “Kiss and Make Up,” Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK have delivered what could easily be one of my favourite collaborations of the year. It’s a vibrant dance track that effortlessly blends and showcases the five women’s styles and even weaves together Korean and English lyrics. Give me a dance floor, put this on and we can call it a night. #imobsessed

Fave: “Thriller” – Michael Jackson

This song was the soundtrack to my annual Halloween dances back in elementary school. It’s a true classic and my fall playlist wouldn’t be complete without it!

I’m a big fan of Broods too. 😀

The Sweeplings “Cary me Home” and Florance and the Machine “Hunger” are a couple of my favorite fall songs.

    1. YAY!! Thank you – will give those a listen. Florence and the Machine is amazing but I haven’t checked out that song. I have doubt it’s incredible.
